Acquisition Planning Timelines
Acquisition Planning (AP) is the process by which the efforts of all personnel responsible for an acquisition are coordinated to fulfill the needs of a Requiring Activity (RA) in a timely manner and at a reasonable cost. RA needs are called requirements. Requirements are defined as any new, recurring (e.g. option period) and expiring medical needs. RAs are supported by contracting offices of the U.S. Army Health Contracting Activity (USAHCA), hereafter referred to as contracting activities (CAs). AP is critical to the success of medical operational readiness and should be a continuous process to assist in creating a shared common operating picture among all stakeholders and serves as a conduit to increase communication between USAHCA CAs and RAs. Consistent communication will minimize delays in the award process and decrease the incidence of unexpected requirements. The following are the established timelines/cut-off dates for RAs to submit requirements/requests to ensure timely completion of the contract action and ensure mission success. All contracting requirements/requests submitted beyond the cut-off dates below must be approved by the Senior Contracting Official (SCO). Approval does not guarantee an end of Fiscal Year (FY) award date (End of FY is last day of Sep). Cut-off dates are recurring FY dates.
